
These workshops are free and open to the public. Families, high school students, college students, and nontraditional college-bound applicants are encouraged to attend. This is a free service provided by College Life Planning to educate and prepare parents and students for college. The various topics discussed are below, although, not all workshops will cover all topics. Some workshops will also include guest speakers in areas such as, financial planning (college savings), financial responsibility (for teens), life planning, career coaching, study skills and other important areas; please check for updates, or register as a CLP site user to stay informed.
College Admissions Prep FREE Workshops Details
College Admissions Prep 101: Basics of college planning advice including looking at your students' high school transcripts, helping to build your student's list of potential colleges based on transcripts, extracurricular activities, and other factors to be discussed. The importance of purpose and helping your teen find their passions and calling as much as they can before college will be discussed. The College Admissions process will be detailed with emphasis placed on what college admissions officers are looking for. We will answer some of the following questions: How do you even start the college search process? What do colleges really want in an admissions essay? College Life Planning will describe, in detail, the college admissions process, offers suggestions on finding the right college, talk about the big tests and discuss financial aid options. Paying for College: Unlike the general CP101 workshop that covers a broad range of information, this workshop will show you how to pay for college; we will discuss the FAFSA including State and Federal aid available to students and parents and how you can maximize your ability to receive that money. We will also discuss scholarship strategies that you can utilize immediately to help find more applicable scholarships for paying for college. We also plan to have a financial expert to explain how to save for college and some best practices for those of you planning early, as well as some advice on how to save for college, even if you are starting late! Life Planning: In this interactive workshop, we will be discussing the art and importance of life planning. This is a free workshop, open to the public and is a service offered by College Life Planning. "Within 10 years, 70% of college grads will not be working in a field related to their major." What if there was a way to reduce that percentage in your student? What if you could help your son or daughter avoid much of the disillusionment that is so prevalent in our society? What if we could show you how to help plan for life, rather than dealing with the mistakes of life?
